The Well Traveled Photon Poem by Vincent Bayer

The Well Traveled Photon

Rating: 5.0

Subatomic voyager of the infinite
What stories you could tell.
Like cosmic Odysseus
Crossing the dark silent void
Only to reach the astronomers eye
Just now...

Offspring of distant suns
What alien latitudes you have known.
From the gamma ray glory
Of distant super nova
To the curious eye of a child
Searching the earthly night sky
Just now...

Time and distance are meaningless words
When applied to the truly immense
Designed only to satisfy
The limited human mind.
What terrible beauty there is
What divine engineering
In Gods marvelous machinery...
