The Energy In Me Poem by alex macleod

The Energy In Me

I think energy is shades of orange
As fiery as the sun
That's what I think
But it might not be the same to everyone.

I think energy looks like a burning candle
Whose flame will soon run out one day
Then death will turn up on your doorstep
And you will not be able to turn him away.

I think energy smells of a burning fire
On a mid-winters night
A clock will strike ten
And birds will take flight.

I think energy tastes like a headache pill
That will make you feel better one day
It might not happen to you right at that moment
But could happen to anybody.

I think energy sounds like a crackling fire
The colours of orange, red, yellow and white
That makes the room
Look ever so bright.

I think energy feels like a warmth
Going through your body
It happens to me
And I hope it happens to everybody.

Energy reminds me of being resuscitated
With things that look like irons
With my mother
Saying prayers to Orion.
