The Faithful And The Fearful Poem by Denis Martindale

The Faithful And The Fearful

Behold the certain destinies of poets new to rhyme,
One faithful thanks to prophecies, aware of truths sublime,
One fearful poet not yet blessed as if to write alone,
Not knowing how to pass each test within the Writing Zone!
I saw them both for what they were, each on a learning curve.
One knew the techniques meant to stir and kept those in reserve,
The other sought encouragement, a helping hand to guide!
A miracle, if Heaven sent, to heal her heart inside!

And so I wondered what to pray to help her understand
And then I pondered what to say, to be that helping hand.
I wrote this poem on the spot to show some ways to phrase
And though it may not seem a lot, a smile came to my face!
I want that joy to bless her, too, so that her poems shine,
When people see her point of view shared in each phrase and line.
The editing that comes along improves words here and there,
And fixes lines when they seem wrong in answer to each prayer.

Accept the yearning that persists for writing night and day,
Accept the learning curve exists, then let it lead the way.
Accept the doubts for what they seem, yet overcome each one,
Fulfilling what all poets dream, yet still embracing fun!
Recurring themes that come again and fantasies to tell.
The silly poems now and then, the serious as well.
Love stories that can melt the heart, like wisdom feeds the mind!
Great poems are God's noble art He meant for all Mankind!
