The Fallen Leaves Poem by Nikhila Churia

The Fallen Leaves

Rating: 5.0

The fallen leaves lay bare and cold;
Monuments of a sad love story;
Withered, brown and crushed they lay;
Waiting for the earth to be their grave;

Soon the snow shall blanket them;
Wiping their unseen tears away;
As they breathe into their deaths;
A wind shall take their souls away.

A funeral amidst piercing silence;
Plaintive friends and their poignant farewells;
In the solitude of the starless night;
Laid bare, are the memories relived.

The trees have lost their divine grace;
And winter chill has reached the gates;
"It's time to go back", the creatures say;
As it shall soon be a long dark day
