The Fight Poem by Julia Araya

The Fight

I tried so hard to get to the top,
Then fell to my demise,
Held him close and pushed him away
Kicked and screamed,
He yelled and fought,
He walked away and said he was done,
I ran after him and begged him to stay,
Then we'd wake up in the same situation,
He yelled and I fought,
Two psychopaths who set each other off,
We would never say goodbye,
No matter how many lies we told each other,
The knives we put into each others back,
We’d always have each others back,
I knew you’d never leave me,
So I set you off, you set me off,
Like suicide bombers,
We blew up at each other,
Nasty words and violent threats,
And the next day, so many regrets,
This dark path we were on,
Always seemed so very long,
But we always remained strong.
