The First Shall Be Last Poem by Michael Rippie

The First Shall Be Last

Rating: 0.5

Those with understanding don't understand at all,
especially the preacher, who thought he heard the call.
Most who say they found him, are mostly off the wall.
The good that is God, lives with in us all.
God is not a jealous God nor does he take revenge.
He does not burn the sinner, for their many sins.
He always has compassion. He is the helping hand.
He understands that children, don't always understand.

Don't let the bible thumper, thump you on the brow.
He really wants to help, but he don't know how.
Forgive them, for they know not, what they do.
When you have forgiven them God forgives you too.

Living in a wilderness with a grey beard does not make a man a mystic. Neither does writing short lines with rhymes make one a poet, especially when it is as illiterate as this poor effort, apparently among the pick of a life's work.
