The Flamingo Dance As In A Poem

The Flamingo dance as in a poem
-Gayathri B. Seetharam
I remember myself in my twenties and thirties
For I have mellowed in my middle age
When with flashing black eyes
I would air my feminist views
And with a tempestuous stride,
Try to conquer the world
For I was the self-proclaimed
And undeclared engineer-queen of the 1990s and the early 2000s
Raging hormones did I use in the direction of my career
With winsome persuasion and an air of feminine ferocity
Did I try to climb the ladder of professional success
And calmly did I tread the stormy waves that come with swimming in the pool
But I also forgot to mention that my swimming instructor did not teach me how to tread in water
All I had learnt to perfection was the freestyle and the backstroke.
