The Forbidden Hurt: Loneliness Poem by Shelby Lanier

The Forbidden Hurt: Loneliness

What do you expect?
Someone to do
When you push them away
Then call them back to you

Then you run away
From everyone and hide
From the comments you obtain
And the choices you abide

You go and hurt yourself
Over and over again
Then expect them to feel sorry
For the one that they call friend

You did it on purpose
Just to get attention
Not letting them really know
How much you really need affection

You cause yourself to be lonely
And cut yourself off from them,
Tearing yourself up
And not thinking of those who you condemn

They wonder what’s wrong
And you keep the hurt hidden,
From everyone around
And call it forbidden!
