The Fortress Poem by Ashwin Naik

The Fortress

Rating: 5.0

I stared at it for hours admiring it,
so strong and tall
Wondering what lies on the other side
beyond those solid walls

Walked down towards its huge rusty gate
felt a chill, a thought, is this my fate?

Stepped inside and it was so dark and cold
heard a woman's voice, so sweet, so bold

Her voice so calm, felt her breath in my ear
She whispered, welcome back dear
she held my hand and It was all clear
it felt like I almost belonged here

turned around and saw light
coming through the gate
this place felt better
'don't want to go back'
Anyways, its already too late...
