It usually happens quite slowly
It sort of takes me by surprise
The air is cooler than before
But one day as I open my eyes
The leaves are turning quickly
At least it seems to be so
My lovely cabin by the lake
My Feet crunching as I go.
The smell is tangy it seems to me
I breathe deeply and I smile
Wearing a sweater now, a little chill
Like nature is having a trial.
Leaves flutter on and around the cabin
Before I know it things change
Deep now are the golden leaves
But this does not seem at all strange.
For autumn takes front and center
The time of year that I love so
The freshness of autumn in the air
A warm fire makes the cabin glow!
