The Friend And The Foe Poem by Cameron Gallant

The Friend And The Foe

A walk down a street.
Laughing as the summer rain falls; the autumn leaves blow; the winter flurries fleck; the spring flowers wave
A smiling greet
Poured heart’s love, radiant as the blinding sun
Together
Forever
And now it comes
Forever is a long time
And a jubilant smile is brought to a half-hearted snarl
Emotions are confused
For once was one is two and friendship is seemingly forgotten
Love is still love
But radiant love is now mixed with longing
How does it feel?
The tables have turned
And thy presence has been turned a blind eye
What was once is not
And as if it never were, the connection is lost
