The Gift Poem by David Musoke

The Gift

With a divine scent her presence is announced
'Tonight your fate is sealed, ' her lips announced
Shackled to a wall of memories my strength ebbs as I face her mirror of desire
Does it reflect my being I wonder...I see a reflection of my desire

The enchantress with a gown of night and face as the sun hands it to me
'This is the gift that you've sought for since you saw me, ' she says with a smile
Spell-bound by my reflection she opens the present
Desire unleashed shatters the reflection of my being and I fade into darkness with my gift
