The Gift Poem by Jo Lynn Ehnes

The Gift

A friend I cherish sent a gift of love
that slowly crossed the blockade to my core.
Confined, my soul could never rise above
the damage caused by storms from life before.
Yet through his caring ways there forms a fire
which circles 'round my heart then lands within.
At last, I've found a man whom I admire;
as frozen passions melt, the floods begin.
A lamp of adoration lights my eyes
and dissipates the haze of dark despair.
A beam of bright endearment strips my guise,
where 'neath this cloak, my heart's compelled to care.

His gift has brought a wealth of healing force
which redesigns the pathways of my course.
