She sat in her room,
Surrounded by dark.
Her face shadowed with gloom
And a crack in her heart.
No one understands,
They don't seem to see.
That she wanders the land
In complete solitary.
With voices in her head,
Telling her to leave.
She doesn't want to be dead,
She doesn't want them to grieve.
But why would she stay?
When all she has is pain
And getting up every day
Is becoming more of a strain.
But she'll always stay,
Not once doubting why.
Because tomorrow's another day
And she tries not to cry.
She wipes away some lone tears
Eradicating her blurry vision.
She will stay and fight her fears,
That's her final decision.
Even though things are rough,
She'll never be disowned.
Others will always rebuff
But their behavior will not be condoned.
She'll work hard to exceed,
She'll give a good fight.
But maybe all that she needs
Is for someone to turn on the light.
She's not always strong
But she knows things will get better.
She will keep moving along
And for that, people won't forget her.
One thing that will stay the same
Is her well known trademark.
Because she will always remain
As the girl in the dark.
Writing is a great way to purge your feelings and express yourself. Keep it up.
A very well crafted poem on depression and lonliness Christina.. Frankly, a wonderful one... Living with depression is like living perpetually alone in a dark room... Thank you for sharing..
