The Gobblin King

Happy Halloween Goblin King
Rannet Hanson 2016 Illustrated by _______________________________

It was Halloween, ghosts and goblins were all about.
We guarded the front door to keep them out.
Suddenly there on our doorstep appeared the Goblin king.
He was dressed in fine clothes, on his finger was a giant ring.
'Do not let your hearts be filled with dread.'
That is what the Goblin King said.
'Dress up, have candy, go out and play,
Have fun on this exciting Holiday.'
The Goblin King smiled and went on his way,
No amount of candy could make him stay.
We found clothes to make our disguise,
and went outside for a candy prize.
The street was filled with all kinds of monsters,
and strange creatures that were making a stir.
A witch dressed in black carried a broom,
We weren't afraid, because it was a costume.
A super hero who was wearing a nice long cap
carried a pumpkin, we could tell by the shape.
We saw Superman, Batman, X-men and Spiderman.
There was a Super girl, Storm even Wonder woman.
The greatest American Hero was carrying a sack,
and a Viking looked like he was ready to attack.
We turned for home, and walked to our door,
and were met by a velociraptor.
He said, 'Trick or treat, smell my feet,
and give me something good to eat.'
We laughed out loud, because he was so silly.
And gave him hot chocolate, because it was getting chilly.
'I must go now, ' he said with a frown,
as he drank the last of the warm liquid down.
He turned to go home, then skipped away,
It was already dark, he could not stay.
It was quiet when we heard the door bell ring,
once more we answered to the Goblin King..
'I hope that you had some fun tonight,
and none of the creatures gave you a fright.'
We exclaimed that we had no fear,
and hoped that we would see him next year.
'I'll be here if you believe, '
said the Goblin King as he turned to leave.
We got ready and went to our bed,
I remembered everything the Goblin King said.
Now every year on Halloween,
I watch everything that can be seen.
