The Gods Poem by robert dickerson

The Gods

We are the gods
we always have been
something like women
something like men
something like something
you've never seen.
We are the smile
following pain
We are the rainbow
We are the rain
We are the darkness
Beyond the sun
We are the weather
You are the vane.
You are the ones
that needed be
to ponder our
Possibility.
We are the flea
forever adrift
within your revery.
We are the weird
And shadowy play
cast on very
Nullity;
We are the lords
of a fine, fine irony.
What we had thought
to achieve in you
we now have forgot
if ever we knew.
