The Greatest Myth Poem by Pete Rivera

The Greatest Myth

Rating: 5.0

Was there ever such a time
That I could persuade you to be mine?
When the lights fade and you disappear
You should know that I need you here

I shall forever hold you in my arms
I shall always keep you safe from harm
Such as a mother bear protects her cubs
I will show you that same kind of love

My love, you shine just like the stars
All that makes you who you are
Because of you I can keep a smile
Just promise me you'll be here awhile

More than a while, don't ever leave
I would never see you as one to deceive
I know in the past I made mistakes
But it's your heart I wouldn't dare to break

I'd stand in the freezing cold just for you
If only the frostbite could prove it true
The bleak December chills me ever so
But I take this cold for you, you know

Just for a chance to give you embrace
Because there is love in a loveless place
There is, there was, and always will be now
I stay through everything, you wonder why and how

A mystery to me and you both, I'm sure
My love is one true, we must concur
That ever we meet in glory by the sky
A hopeless endeavor, but I, nontheless, shall try

To know and love you in life is a gift itself
And no amount of coin will amount to this wealth
True, so true are the words I speak and write
We were but two love birds prompt to flight

But if lost is air, I will return to see
The reason you became lost to me
Forever in a sanctuary by the cliff
The stories of us shall be the greatest myth

That so ever the cherubim cry in pain
And hoped that our love would end in vain
A moment bleak but simple to remember
I will love you always from to first to December.

I will forever love you and show you care
And give you what you deserve, this I swear
That when my life ends I hope to see
You, my love, shining star, sitting beside me
