The Gymnast Poem by Sofia Kioroglou

The Gymnast

Running
jumping,
tumbling,
somersaulting,
flipping and
balancing.

Yes, I can do them all. My supreme performance on the rings has my mum fumbling for words. In my dreams, I am executing a challenging routine at the horizontal bar when you suddenly interrupt my stunt with your yelling voice. I don't blame you. You just didn't know i was working hard to win the gold medal on Sunday.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
The Gymnast, poem by Sofia Kioroglou (MY IMAGINARY SKILL Poetry and Prose Series)
THE POEM WAS ORIGINALLY PUBLISHED ON June 21,2016 BY SILVER BIRCH PRESS

NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR: I have always loved gymnastics and was quite captivated by the performance of great international male and female gymnasts. My favourite gymnastics sport has always been the rings and the horizontal bar. How I wished I had the agility and balance to do flips, jump, tumble and somersault. I suppose I can do all of them in my dreams.

Your poem reminded me how much I loved gymnastics. I too dreamed of that gold medal, but was interruped by that nasty coach yelling at me! Well done. Thanks Sofia! :)

We are blessed by such dreams where for a little while we can do those magnificent things we yearn to do! Sometimes though the dreams stop in mid-stride and my heart breaks- - even so, life is better with dreams beguiling our sleep! Lovely write, Sofia
