The Gypsy And The Homemaker Poem by Rishini Fernando

The Gypsy And The Homemaker

Rating: 5.0

I wake up soon after the dawn
wait till my eyes adjust to the darkness
and figure out where I am,
for I have forgotten
Where I rested last night.
Memories linger from corners of my mind
And then I am silently grateful
for them who gave me shelter the last night.
I stand and start walking
without waking them
Them who are still dreaming.
I keep moving and moving
The places I call mine are not mine
The places who call me theirs are not theirs.
I am me till I stop moving
Like the sky.

.......

I wake up when the sun touches my skin
wait till my eyes adjust to the light
and hoping to figure out that I'm home
for I remember
Where I find solace all the time
Memories linger from corners of my mind
And then I desperately wonder where they left
Them to whom I gave shelter last night.
I stand and step out from the home
To see the traces of them
Them who must be still moving
My eyes keep searching and searching.
The people I call mine are not mine
The people who call me theirs are not theirs.
I am me till I start moving
Like earth.
