The Heart Poem by J.Lakie Kollie,Jr.

The Heart

The Heart

The heart of man
Can one amend?

The heart of man
Was made by God
But ruled by man

It can be hard
As a rock
It can be soft
As a sponge

Some times it flows
As a river

Some times it breaks
As a glass

It even directs
As a compass

More so, it speaks
As a man

It sometimes sinks
As a ship

The heart can beat
As a drum

Most times, it acts
As an Actor

It can be deceitful
It can be cunning

Some times it’s joyful
When it’s not mourning

The heart of man
Is the man himself

Above all the heart can do
The most of all
I’m glad it does
Is to love and be loved
