The Heartbreak Poem by Biwot Kevin

The Heartbreak

Were she a breath, or were she the owner of all the air
I’d then be glad to suffocate
Were she the end of all my pain, my worries and my despair
I’d be glad if my death I met
Than let her heal me
With her inborn cure
Or wouldn’t she later kill me
By abandoning me for sure?

Were she a flower fair amidst a thorny garden
I’d be glad if it withered away
Were she the one to lift away my burden
For her elimination to God I’d pray
Or would she lift away at all
The burdens on me she bestowed
Would she hold me as I fall
Down this abyss where only the devil has rowed

I saw her the other gloomy day
Rejoice while I secretly cried
While I tried her face for compassion to survey
I was knocked away my stupid pleas denied
That now I sit down my mind divided
Was she the one still?
That loving forever I had decided
Was she the one for real?
