The Heartbroken Rose Poem by Lauren Kapusta

The Heartbroken Rose

Rating: 5.0

Gray skies are all I see.
My eyes still bleed tears.
My heart still beats in a sad tone.
I am alone and grieving.
Why did you sacrifice yourself for me?
Your little heartbroken rose pines for you.
I should've been the dead one, not you.
With your last breath, you told me,
That you'd be with me forever.
You'd never abandon me.
You kept your promise.
I feel you in the wind.
I feel you touch me.
You whisper affections into my ear.
But I can't see you.
It tears me apart that I can't see you.
If I can't look upon your familiar visage,
I want you to leave me.
You act as if death isn't a barrier,
Between the passed ones and the living.
You interact with me as if you were alive.
You are dead and I cannot see you.
I am alive and you can see me.
You visit me in my dreams.
You try to reach out to me.
You want to tell me everything's alright.
I will see you with my mortal eyes again.
We will exchange kind words once more.
Continue to be with me, my guardian angel.
Once mortal, forever with me.
