The Hidden War Poem by Shelley Wynona Williams

The Hidden War

The days seem longer
when I watch the clock.
Hours pass by slowly
and I lay with inner shock.

The time becomes enemy
to all that I have known.
The anguish I have suffered
makes me feel alone.

I cannot face the world
when there is little trust.
They hurt the naive mind
and resistance is a must.

We fight for our rights,
and are up against a lie.
The quiet are misunderstood
and the wicked make them cry.

Denial is commonly used
to help the killer get away.
The mind fears a betrayal
and manipulates modern day.

Actions show the hidden
if you are open you can see.
You are fooled by the evils
that keep you from being free.

Would it be the truth
if it was whispered in the dark?
Words cut sharp as razors
and revenge is its remark.

Be wise in your dealings
even if you live with hate.
Your choices lead an army
and the war you fight is great.
