The Hourglass Poem by Elvira Groenendijk

The Hourglass

If we could ask God to turn the hourglass
so we could live free before our time is pass
just turn the hourglass before the time has come
‘for all love has died and nothing can be done

If we could ask God to change the course of time
so we could go and leave it all behind
please don't give up on me and turn the hourglass
so i could change before my time will pass

the world will fall if the last sand drops
and fire will rise past the mountain tops
time passes by by us and nothing can be done
now nothing's left of what we have become

time will tell a truth that's never been told
he begs to God for his love to hold
when time takes his love away there's nothing he can do
his love is dead and now he will be too

He cried out to heaven whilst he held her neck
turn time around and bring my sweet love back
please break the hourglass so time can fly away
bring back my love and just make it stay

my heart is lost and nowhere to be found
my love, i want to turn the time around
don't turn your back on me and leave this love to pass
or i'll get lost in the endless hourglass
