The Human Kind Poem by Emillie DeVere

The Human Kind

How can you tell right from wrong?
How can you know the truth, yet believe the lie?
When others are saying hello, why do you say goodbye?
Why do you hide when lives are at stake?
Why, when do you smile, your smile is fake?
Why do your eyes glisten with unshed tears?
Why do you talk when no one hears?
Why do you ignore the desperate calls for help?
What will it take for your heart of stone to melt?
How much more pain do you need, to notice that something’s not right?
How many people have to die, for you to swallow your pride?
There are so many questions,
With answers yet to be found
But can we find them,
Before the end of the human kind?
