The Idol Of Kali Poem by Bijay Kant Dubey

The Idol Of Kali

The Dark Goddess Kali,
Dark the world,
Dark the Creation,
Dark the ways of Man.

Dark Goddess,
Kali,
The Mother Divine,
The Creatrix.

Mother Kali,
The idol of Her,
Kali in Kalrupa,
Kali Kalyani.

Kali,
Mahakali,
Maharatri,
Moharatri.

Kali in Her Anger Divine
With the sword
And a man head,
The conch and trisula.

Into the four hands of Hers
She a Goddess of the yoginis,
Yoginis as divine agents
On a mission.

Kali wearing a garland of human heads
Woven into a garland
And hanging down to Her waist,
Heads of sinners cut and garlanded.

Of devils and demons,
Satanic people running amok,
Going on a rampage, killing spree
And Mother trying to save Her creation.

With Her leg placed over Shiva
Who is lying flat on the ground,
On Her way to quell Her anger
And having placed Her foot She feeling shame.

The blood-red tongue held out of the mouth
Maybe it She has sucked in the blood of the sinners,
Maybe it that She has trampled Shiva
Under indignation unknowingly.

The jackal lies it underneath trying to suck blood
Dripping from the head,
The snake too is coiled around,
The Goddess in anger.

The eyes have a glitter in them,
She with a flashing sword into Her hands,
The hands cut and sewn around Her waist,
Oh, Kali looking dreadful!

Kali idols,
How to make them,
Kali iconography,
How engrave and carve out?

How to paint Kali,
The image of Kali,
The world seems to be an image of Kali,
How to?

Kali dreadful,
Kali blissful,
Kali dark and beautiful,
Kali, Kali.

Kali dark, the Dark Goddess,
Bizarre and grotesque,
A Goddess of darkness, death and creation,
The goddess of the crematorium.

Kali is the dark side of Creation,
To worship Kali is to keep oneself in control,
One's logic and reasoning
As superstitions may mislead.

While delving deep into the nocturnal,
The supernatural and the mystical,
One needs to balance oneself
From inhuman rites and rituals.

From kaam, kraudh, vasana, asakti,
Lust, anger, yearning, fascination,
Though she is tamasic,
But stimulants need to be avoided.
When in sadhna, undergoing the trial,
The recourse to,
Temptation, lust, human weakness may
Lure you, but be you not misled.

Kali,
Pitch dark Kali
With conventional weapons
Into her hands
With one leg over Shiva.

Shiva, saintly Shiva lying on the ground
With the hope of
Making Her trampled
To quell Her anger.

Kali,
The dark Goddess,
Mythical and mystical,
Supernatural and nocturnal.

Kali Shyama Kali not,
Kali as a red fresco not,
But dark Samshana Kali.

Pitch dark Kali
Looking dark black
With the tongue out of
With a dribble of blood.

With a white crown over Her head
She has jewellery
With a nose-ring,
Ear-rings and a necklace.

Anklets on Her feet,
Mother is wearing bracelets,
A bindi on the forehead
Where the trinetra is.

With the hands cut and tied Her waist,
Mother wearing a garland of human heads,
That of the sinners, devils and demons
Cut and garlanded.

Whatever be the idol and the iconography,
I do not know too much,
I describe as I have seen Her
Just for the blessing sake.

The image I see,
The picture I feel,
I draw with myself
As for worshipping the Dark Divine.

I like Her pose and posture,
Her shame,
Her fit of anger and Divine Dispensation of Justice,
I like Her iconography.

She is the Dark Divine,
The Mother Goddess,
The Supernatural Deity,
The Mother of whole creation.
