The Illusion Of Happiness Poem by Brittney Heck

The Illusion Of Happiness

Rating: 4.0

The illusion of happiness all in one pill
riding the pain he caused her to feel.
She says 'They help me and I need them to live.'
But she used to be free, until he'd take and not give.
With a life based on lies, he filed her with doubt
making her cry and breaking her down.
So she looks deep inside wondering where she went wrong
and her tears show the pain that she hid for so long.
Looking back on her beauty, now tired and worn,
she was once filled with confidence,
now she's shattered and torn.
But now that he's gone, she's learning to cope.
Abused for so long, but still holding out hope.
