The Jade Staircase Uncarpeted Poem by East Sea Fairy Xing Yi

The Jade Staircase Uncarpeted

Rating: 5.0

By LIU-Yong Translated by East Sea Fairy

On the jade staircase uncarpeted
dance the dancing girls tasty and pretty
Well excited and elated
are the court and the commonalty
Booming and blooming are the streets fancy
From the houses and hovels flies out clear
a rich and rapid melody
To the thriving streets the bawdy-houses stand near.
I can still feel the merry atmosphere.

Appeal all the vibrant and vigorous
displays
So at the rich repasts I spend my glorious
days
with entertaining shows and plays
and challenge others' capacity of wine and beer
round the clock in the brothel highlighted by flags at the doorways.
However in my eyes the place most pleasant and premier
is the one that has your grace, my dear.
