The Jaguar Poem by Suzanne Bronson

The Jaguar

It was lent to me
from the jaguar’s eyes
met in a turning glance;
and in her walk – her shoulders –
before me, like spades traversing earth.

This, the corporeal unsheathed edge
extending my reach –
this, the rapier accrued to me,
wheeled high overhead.
