The Jest We Say Poem by lil miss

the truth in the jest we say
is seen before yesterday
and all the games we try to play
are louder than the lies we say
but we go about our lives each day
and tell ourselves it's fine this way
until one of us is not okay
and the other wants to run away
but we'll fight until we both just stay
'cause neither will let the other stray
we'll go to bed and make love all day
then we'll speak the truth in the jest we say.
