The Joker Poem by Alexander Gardner

The Joker

Up jumped the Joker with his wide-rimmed smirk,
Laughing and clapping like a child he lurked,
Straight to the king with the dirk in hand,
Meant to spread fear across the land.

The King calls for guards that do not appear,
And ever closer does the Joker leer,
Closing the gap between the two,
The innocent king begins to mew,

Mews turn to screams and cries for help,
But no one answers not even a yelp.
The King begins begging and pleading for life,
But none of his days have been filled with strife,

The dirk shows no mercy the Joker thinks,
As he slowly leans down to take a drink,
Of the blood that gushes out so near,
From the neck of a king who was so dear.

The Joker flees into the night,
The kingdom hears of their new plight,
No one knows which way to turn,
So they all begin to burn,

Ashes fall from everywhere,
Stench of flesh floats in the air.
The joker watches with a smile,
No one ever saw his guile,

And so he has one last smirk,
And in his heart he puts the dirk.
