The Journey Poem by Jesse Artley

The Journey

Neither one of us asked to fall this far beyond our point of breaking down
And we never prayed for this piss pouring rain
We're here now, you can lean on me, I need you as much as you need me
If our fires grew together, we could be something this world could not contain

We didn't plan this but it's came together just as fast
Now baby just hold on, I'm falling hard and losing control
I don't want to rush this, don't want to lose it, because it's you and this is us
Come fall into me girl, you are my only goal

We both have the same scars, from our past mistakes
Time doesn't stop for anyone, so honey why should we?
I just need to know what you're choosing, I believe that this is real
We can grow and heal together, just take my hand and be with me

Don't know how I deserved for your path to ever cross mine
We've both seen examples of what love is not
I've counted up the cost, I know the risk we're about to take
This is our shot, let me love you with all I've got
