There was a scratch on the cabinet window
detectives had not seen
and saw dust on the floor
the dust cloth had a sheen

the time was fixed at 4: 02
the weather showed it snowing
they fixed a tape around the scene
the main suspect wasn't showing

the dead girl had blood under her fingernails
the evidence man was glad
a relative stood outside crying
the police super seemed mad

the facts are quite conclusive
he said, getting ready to go
the killer will be back tonight
so just hang tight and low
