The Kiss Poem by Parinita Valvaikar

The Kiss

When the night begins to wake
And the Earth’s beauty slowly unfurls,
She walks swiftly through the garden
Wearing a gown as white as pearl

The river flows gently, with serenity
As ripples are caused by the breeze
She moves her palms over the flowers
Feeling the petals, a sensation they (her palms) seize

From behind, appears a mortal being
Gripping her wrist with supreme power
Her heart pounds against her chest
This moment she’s been waiting for hours

She clenches her heart as she turns
Coming to face this charming creature
The moonlight shown across his face
Sketching all his supreme features

In seventh heaven she must be
To have all her wishes being appeased
Her soul’s entwined with that of his
Her destiny is now finally complete

He pulls her close, to himself
This enchanting goddess from above
A million desires incited in him
Each one an igniting passion of love

Her name is engraved in his heart
A proof, that to him she will always belong
Her love flows tenderly through his veins
Day by day making him strong

He holds her chin bringing her close
Breathing softly with eternal bliss
Placing his lips on hers so sweet
He gives her the sacred, forbidden kiss
