The Lady On My Street Poem by Bolami lawal

The Lady On My Street

Why do you spite my ways;
Why do you flash your teeth
When i say hello
And mock me
When am gone

There she goes
Walking like she owns the land
Like the sun rises just for her;
Thats the lady on my street,
She's the bone of contention

So; again i asked
Why does my prowess hurt so bad
Why do i get judged for being me;
When i speak; am proudful,
If i dont; am slotful
It's wired; your sense of judgment

Tell me;
Is it my fault that am dark
That the sun shines upon my gaze
And the waves rocks my hips
That your men would trade their treasures
To get a glimes of my smile

Here she comes again;
Swinging her hips in attraction
Carrying herself like she rules the world
Thats the lady on my street;
She's the bone of contention

If i were you;
I will tan my skin
I will swing my hips
And learn the smile,
I would walk across the street
Like i rule the world!
