The Land Poem by Mariam de Haan

The Land

Between the foggy mist of the mind
Away from the secrets that you hide
There lies a land.
Where lollipops are trees
Troubles melt with ease
Your voice maintains to please.

A boy found this land
And asked himself,
'If this is how the world should be
Why do I live with a broken family?
Why do I have to worry?
Why God? Why me? '
And he began to weep
But his tears didn't fall, they sustained.
For in this land pain was a gain.

And that's where it relates to reality.
All the horrors that we see
Everytime that we bleed
We come out stronger.
As if the pain purifies us
As if the pain supplies us
With a new way of life.

Because the blood that you lose
And the tear that flows
Rejuvenates,
Recreates,
And grows.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I wrote this poem while listening to Zen music. It was meant to be about a dream but it turned out differently.
