The Language Of Flowers Poem by Sheena Blackhall

The Language Of Flowers

Carnation means love and distinction
Violet means wisdom and hope
Buttercups mean the sweetness of childhood
Wreaths help the grieving to cope

Forget-me-nots say I will miss you
Marigold is for comfort, protection
Pink flowers are for joy and for innocence
Each meaning's a floral connection

Yellow flowers are for happiness, friendship
Red flowers are for passion, affection
White flowers are for guiltless, humility
Lavender's virtue, devotion

Sweet is the lily of the valley
Daisies mean purity
Daffodils stand for regard
Sweet William's for gallantry

Honeysuckle's the bonds of endearment
Chrysanthemum's innocence, purity
Myrtle, for constancy, marriage
Gladiolii for strength and integrity

Iris is special amongst them
She represents Heaven above
And from times immemorial, Roses
Are used in the language of love
