The Last Harbor Poem by Bonnie Collins

The Last Harbor

Rating: 5.0

Too many ships have come and gone
sailing sea after raging sea

From within I knew only too
well that the storm was not
going to weather your sails

Endlesslly, pacing with fear
fighting to reason with my sanity
Well knowing that upon this
vessel would be its last voyage

Withered and windblown my heavy
heart like the abandoned ship
signaling for your warmth once
again to enlighten its dark shadow

A Good many seas have come
and gone since that fatefull day,
and a good many more shall
come after, however NEVER
shall I sail as I once sailed
in your harbor.........

'A Good many seas have come and gone since that fatefull day, and a good many more shall come after, however NEVER shall I sail as I once sailed in your harbor.........' you know this is very beautiful.. This is what real poetry is.. I mean these words had to come from your heart ma'am, , and that is why admire you.. I am telling you again, poetry is ever so beautiful when you put your heart and soul in to them... make the reader move with liines.. With rhyming one can see the lighter side of things though.. anyway this is beautiful! ! ! 1 lovess shan

This is a wonderful poem. You describe exactly how my mother felt (and still feels) when my dad passed. A truly moving poem. Thanks again.
