The Leap Poem by Victoria Staley

The Leap

I feel you pulling me into your mysterious mind.
Those misty hues that stare at me through the darkness.
You're good at getting closer and closer each time,
Especially when my head is nothing but a mess.

At times I plead for you to take me where freedom reigns.
where there are no rules, where there is no pain.
At times I beg for you not to take me at all,
For fear has me by the neck, a noose, and I am afraid to fall.

Perhaps if I leaped would I be able to make it across,
Those dark trenches that would howl below my being.
But, for me to make it I must first jump off,
Sometimes it's hard to go without seeing.
