The Light

Beep...Beep...Beep
'The light...The light'
The relief

Minutes are replayed over and over
A catch up meeting is all it takes

A frame too high for a minor
Not a child
Not a toddler
But an infant
A miniature hero
(He saved his contemporaries)
He is the youngest
The bravest
The strongest

Unconscious, but laughing
Knowing his will is too strong
Laughing at the panic
Showing off as the pupeteer
Performing again
Warning as 'Ursula' again
(through the washing machine door)
Tonguing nintendo pads
Tricicling with Mighty Mouse

Surprising with prococious profanity
(and diction)
Especially the fiction with the rubber snake
'oh shit, it's a fucking snake! '
The teacher didn't really say

But he got away with the bravado
(still does to this day)
and will until there's no more days
No more wind
No more power
No more strength
No bother
No impotus

No beep beep
'No light... No light'

Poem of the Day

poet Paul Laurence Dunbar

The mist has left the greening plain,
The dew-drops shine like fairy rain,
The coquette rose awakes again
Her lovely self adorning.

The Wind is hiding in the trees,
