The Lightest Shade Of Blue Poem by Eric Skinner

The Lightest Shade Of Blue

I know we won't last
I hope it's not true
But I can feel it
And so can you

Before I dream we exchange 'I love you's
We say sweet dreams
But my dreams are never so sweetly lined
I cannot shake this feeling that I have
I wake up sad and denied in my own mind

In the past I've been hurt
It was my own fault and
I'll make sure
Never to do anything
To someone that I love that isn't pure

I hope you only have eyes for me
And I am all yours
But I know a while ago there were many
You adored

And there will be many to come
For me and for you
With you so far away my heart becomes
The lightest shade of blue

I hope you never read this poem
It may hurt you and will terrorize the inside
But one thing is for sure, so do not cry;

I know we won't last
I hope it's not true
But I can feel it
And so can you
