The Lime Tree Poem by Merry Sahl

The Lime Tree

Rating: 5.0

I lay down my imperfections at the foot of the lime tree

It sways and refreshes me

Invigorating my weary soul

Renew my sallow flesh

A body in shadows

Praying to be free

Dreams of a neon speckled sky

Aromatic with the scent of citrus

Refreshing as a cool drink

From a virgin running stream

Vibrant hues of chartreuse

Tantalizing my senses

Calms my anxious heart

Thoughts undisturbed

No ripples on the lake

Of my troubled mind

I lay my burdens down

At the root of the lime tree
