The Little Dreamer Poem by Ruth L. Rivers

The Little Dreamer

Sleep dear child, let the dreams fly by
Slumber in peace with lids heavy in night
Breathe the silence of each busy days end
Metered rise and fall belies time well spent
Dreams that still and hold you enraptured
Hopes and adventures only just captured
You become the brilliant race car winner
You run among playgrounds unhindered
Behind those eyelids are the small seeds
That fuel and furnish a great mans deeds
In that mind so busy with child's youth
Grow a future that is today still very new
Sleep, just yet, in this peace filled moment
There are days enough to busily be spent
So sleep and dream within one little mind
Rest lids and feet that will busy with time
