The Lock Poem by Aaron Frier

The Lock

Sitting, scribbling, surrounded.
The confined, cuboid cell, walls created by my own,
Expectations, limitations, desperations.
Hopes, hopelessly horded, hidden, filed away.

Get somewhere, be someone, do something!
Do it, manage it. Pause…

Repeat.

Older now, tired, worried still scared.
Where to go? Nowhere to go. Why even go?

Why?

Sitting, scribbling, surrounded.
Look up, out….pause.
Blue, boundless beautiful.
A small shimmering, cylindrical satellite,
Sailing slowly….steadily. High…pause.

Smile. Walk away, go out.

Enjoy

Run, rapidly, reminiscing on,
Worried, wasted, woeful times.

Live, lovingly, LOUDLY, laughter, longer
Never pause.

End.
Sitting, scribbling, surrounded.
The confined, cuboid cell, walls created by my own,
Expectations, limitations, desperations.
Hopes, hopelessly horded, hidden, filled away.

Get somewhere, be someone, do something!
Do it, manage it. Pause…

Repeat.

Older now, tired, worried still scared.
Where to go? Nowhere to go. Why even go?

Why?

Sitting, scribbling, surrounded.
Look up, out….pause.
Blue, boundless beautiful.
A small shimmering, cylindrical satellite,
Sailing slowly….steadily. High…pause.

Smile. Walk away, go out.

Enjoy

Run, rapidly, reminiscing on,
Worried, wasted, woeful times.

Live, lovingly, LOUDLY, laughter, longer
Never pause.

End.
