The Love I Left Behind Poem by Alfred Ramos

The Love I Left Behind

Across an endless ocean
Resides a deep suspect devotion
And the waves of perpetual motion
Keeps alive this magic potion
Distance cannot break me
Time cannot shake me
Broken -hearted lovers cannot mistake me
For it’s your love that will awake me
You are so far yet I can see
That reality offers no guarantee
Who am I to disagree
We are rooted to the same tree
The wanting outbid the norm
I left in the midst of a storm
I sought treasures that left me blind
For the love I left behind
Do I need to start all over again
Escape the trap of this lions’ den
How do I fight back
Turn away from this mind attack
That is directing me off the main track
Turning my world pitch black
I’m somewhere between heaven and hell
With no key to this solitary jail cell
When will I bid farewell
To this dungeon where I dwell
Am I the biggest fool in mankind
As I keep searching for the love I left behind
