The Love Is Still Here Poem by Thomas Plotz

The Love Is Still Here

Time and time again
My wings of Angels have
Come forth from heaven,
Showing compassion from the shadows,

When I felt alone, lost, and weary,
When I was living with the constant snare,
Blaring sounds of cicadas,

When the outside was my roam…
Far from home,

Time and time again
My wings of Angels
Have come asking for me to help them,

To comfort them, enabling me to heal
Feeling the love of being needed,
Giving me unimpeded purpose, to be

If only to have them lay there head on my lap,
Choking back my tears,
So I'm able to stroke their hair, and gently
Push the tears off her cheek,

GOD, I wish they explained to me
Who I was to them, my Love Ones Most Dear to me,
For I was blind, I didn't know, to recall my lovers

Some say, its hypnosis and programing
Some say, its amnesia,
Some PTSD, from war, blood and the color RED

I know it's hard on them, for their love of us
Not wanting me to spiral off into a land,
Of a catatonic state, where the color Yellow is not even Seen,

I'm somewhat awake, seeing events, but not knowing what to do,
Or seeing faces, but not knowing names, and the other way around too,

It's a scrambled mess of flux, and unrest,
It's messy, but more than some people have,
It comes and goes with the level of recall,
I'm willing to stay and fight to see
If you're willing to stay, just to be,

If only to have them lay there head on my lap,
So I'm able to stroke their hair, and gently
Push the tears off her cheeks,
Caress with blessed touch on skin,

The love is still here…
