The Magic Of Prayers Poem by Bernedita Rosinha Pinto

The Magic Of Prayers

Rating: 5.0

Prayers the magic with words
when we beseech others to give us what we need;
lawyers keep praying for justice
judges hear and grant their prayer
whether it is acquittal or sentence in jail.

God too hears your prayers with diligence
as you pray He respects your need for devotion,
God always judges you by what you do
and not by what you don't do.

Man by prayers-unspoken words seeks favours
from everyone whom he encounters
the milkman, the baker, the tailor, the cobbler
at the marketplace, at the grocers.

The vegetable vendors, the florists,
the priests, the recitals;
everything man chooses and proposes
to find and enhance his life and comforts.

Man even prays arduously for luxuries and fame
finally he prays for marriage, children, family
he wants to have for unity and togetherness.

But man can never refrain from praying for wealth
as he gets anxious he prays relentlessly,
he prays for vices to give him comfort
in the end game of life man has everything.

yet as he dies he prays to God
asking for more time on earth;
and when death seizes him, his soul prays for peace
while others pray for the peace of his soul.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
The magic of prayers is in where you pray and to whom you pray or ask.
What you get is what already exists. Only by prayers and asking for it- makes what you desire or seek, meaningful! Like justice exists- by asking for it or seeking it, it becomes meaningful when you seek it and get it.
