The Man In The Mirror Poem by Lily Ives

The Man In The Mirror

The enemy is not in the sex
It is not in the kiss
It is not in the woman
It is in the mirror
The common denominator
is the man who seeks love,
who seeks tender affection
and who seeks romance
But, when it arrives at his doorstep,
he weaves his web, captures it,
defiles it, and disregards it.
Where is love, he asks?
And I tell him to look in the mirror.
Only then might he see,
that he must first
love the shadow within.
