The Man With The Tatoos Poem by Juan Olivarez

The Man With The Tatoos

Rating: 5.0

My only daughter,
My only star in the heavens,
My precious little girl,
Fell in love with a policeman.

A protector of the public,
A role model,
For the youth of America.

She fell madly in love,
And against my wishes,
She Married him.

She married a monster.
He would beat her without mercy.
He would throw her out,
Of their apartment,
At three in the morning,
In her nightgown.
He had numerous affairs.
And he wanted my daughter,
To conceive.

But he would only accept a son.
If she became pregnant,
With a girl,
She was to abort it.

Finally she saw the light,
And she finally, called me,
I went and took her away,
From that bastard.
And she came home.

Some months later,
She came home with a new boyfriend,
That she wanted to present to us.
An ex Marine.

When I saw him, I said to myself,
'Oh my lord, here we go again.'
He had a piercing in his lip,
He had ear plugs,
Very tiny ones,
But ear plugs, non the less.
He had his whole right arm,
Tattooed in brilliant colors.
I was devastated.

Four years later,
I have no idea,
How we ever lived without him.

This man has given us,
Two beautiful grandkids.
He is as honest, as the day is long,
He is the hardest working man,
I have ever seen,
And most important,
He treats my little girl,
Like a real man should,
(with respects to Carrie Underwood)
There is nothing he will not do for her.

He loves her so much,
It is unreal.

I guess the least I can do,
For my daughter's happiness,
And I do,
Is to love the man,
With the tattoos.
