The Manliest Man! Poem by Robert Edgar Burns

The Manliest Man!

A thousand eyes observed Him die,
So they carried Him to His grave.
He could have lived an Emperors life,
Choosing the tomb and serving as a slave.

A thousand eyes beheld Him when
He lived again as said.
For prophets had foretold just how
A savior would rise when dead.

A conviction insured in a court room,
When a witness said “I swear! ”
Five hundred recorded what they saw.
Their testimony very clear!

He said there is no greater love,
Than to lay down a life for a friend.
And then He did it willingly,
Changing the course of how life ends.

Just think of how He bore His Cross!
He turned His other cheek.
Ten thousand angels held in place,
As my Savior began to speak.

“Father forgive them here today,
For they know not what they do!
At the close of this day I’ll be on my way,
To present all who’ll come - to You! ”

This is no sissy religious sham
When accepting His salvation plan.
No more courageous thing was ever done.
My Savior is a Manly Man!
